Cedar Revolution
They gathered in Beirut on March 14, 2005, one million people strong, from every part of Lebanon's society, and changed the course of their country's history. They asked that Lebanon be left to the Lebanese, to decide their own destiny. The world heard, and shortly thereafter Syria's troops were gone. Lebanon could breathe easier once more.
But their work is not done. Not while Gibran Tueni and others have followed Rafik Hariri in keeping alive the name of Martyr's Square. We must not forget, nor let the world forget, until the remnants go and Lebanese people are able to completely determine their own lives, and live in peace.
